The Sounders made the trip to Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy for the 2nd leg of their Western Semi Play Off. Hoping that Nick Rimando would not be in such fine form.

The games between these teams have been low scoring affairs and it seemed theat one goal would always be enough.

Rimando again would deny Seattle, stopping Brad Evans goal bound thunderbolt. The Sounders had gone 740 minutes in play off football without a lead, but they would get it after fine approach play by Eddie Johnson, Brad Evans and Fredy Montero. They worked the ball to Mario Martinez, who hit a blistering left foot volley past Rimando.

Real were stung into action and Fabian Espindola and Alvaro Saborio both missed chances to tie the game.

At the end the Sounders celebrated getting the monkey off their back and now travel to face the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Final.
